What if your child didn’t just learn physics—but had to use it to escape?
Welcome to Physics Escape Academy, an immersive 14-week middle school STEM experience where students become trainees inside the Edison Research Facility.
Each week, trainees face a new problem. They’ll investigate a physics concept, conduct hands-on experiments, build and test engineering solutions, and then use what they’ve learned to complete a physics-based escape challenge.
This is not a sit-and-listen science class.
Students will experiment, engineer, solve, fail, redesign, test again—and escape.
The Mission
The Edison Research Facility is experiencing a series of unexplained system failures.
Research data has been corrupted. Transport systems are malfunctioning. Forces are behaving unpredictably.
The facility needs a new team of trainees who can think critically, test ideas, analyze evidence, and engineer solutions.
Over 14 weeks, students will work their way through four mission sectors and prepare for one final fall escape:
Sector 1 — Research Facility Training
Students learn how physicists investigate problems through observation, measurement, testing, data, variables, accuracy, and experimental design.
Sector 2 — Newton Protocol
Explore Newton’s Laws through moving vehicles, crash tests, propulsion systems, and hands-on force challenges.
Sector 3 — Motion Tracking
Investigate position, speed, acceleration, and motion as trainees reconstruct mysterious movements inside the facility.
Sector 4 — Extreme Forces
Use gravity, balance, friction, momentum, and engineering design to prepare for the Fall Final Escape.
Every Week Is a Mission
Each academy session follows the same Edison Kids mission format:
🔬 Physics Investigation
Students discover the week’s physics concept through hands-on testing and experimentation.
🛠 Engineering Build
They use what they’ve learned to design, build, test, and improve a working solution.
🔐 Escape Challenge
Every week ends with an escape-room-style mission that requires students to actually use the physics they just learned.
⬛ The Black File
Students who complete the core mission can unlock a classified advanced challenge.
The Black File isn’t extra busywork. It introduces new constraints, harder problems, optimization challenges, and open-ended engineering problems for students ready to go further.
🏅 Mission Badges
Successful trainees earn collectible mission badges throughout the academy to add to their Edison Research Facility lab coat.
What Will Students Learn?

- Critical thinking and evidence-based problem solving
But just as importantly, students learn to ask:
What do I know?
What can I test?
What does the evidence show?
Why didn’t that work?
What should I change next?

The Fall Final Escape
COLLISION COURSE
Fourteen weeks of training lead to one final mission.
A hazardous containment system inside the Edison Research Facility has failed.
Students must use what they’ve learned about motion, Newton’s Laws, gravity, balance, friction, momentum, experimentation, and engineering design to prevent a catastrophic collision and unlock the facility.
There will be no single set of instructions telling them what to do.
They’ll have to think like engineers.
Who Is Physics Escape Academy For?
Ages 8–14
Physics Escape Academy is designed for curious students who enjoy:

- Figuring out how things work
- Challenging themselves
- Solving problems in more than one way
No previous physics experience is required.
Students do not need to be “good at science” before joining. The academy is designed to develop scientific and engineering thinking through experience.

Fall Semester Tuition: $850
Space is intentionally limited to keep the academy hands-on and highly interactive.

Physics Escape Academy: Part Two — Coming Spring
Students who complete the Fall Academy will have the opportunity to continue their training during the 20-week Spring Semester.
Part Two moves deeper into:

And everything ultimately leads to:
THE FINAL ESCAPE
