Sock Launcher Catapult Challenge – Aim, Launch, Score!
Join us for an exciting 2-hour STEM adventure in the Sock Launcher Catapult Workshop! In this hands-on challenge, students will dive into the world of force, motion, and engineering as they explore the mechanics behind catapults. Their mission? Design and build a working catapult that can successfully launch a sock into a laundry hamper using everyday materials.
Guided by the Engineering Design Process in a STEM Fair-style format, students will brainstorm, sketch, build, test, and improve their sock-launching devices. Along the way, they’ll learn key physics concepts like trajectory, tension, and energy transfer—while having a blast turning a common household chore into a competitive engineering feat.
