Edison Kids Terms & Conditions
By registering for or participating in an Edison Kids Inc. workshop, class, camp, team, event, or other program, the purchaser and participant agree to the following Terms & Conditions.
For participants under 18, a parent or legal guardian is responsible for reviewing and agreeing to these terms on the participant’s behalf.
Registration & Payment
Registration is not confirmed until payment or an approved scholarship/provider authorization has been received.
Enrollment is for the specific program, workshop, dates, and participant selected at registration.
Some Edison Kids workshops consist of one session, while others consist of multiple sessions. When a workshop includes multiple sessions, the registration fee includes all sessions listed in the program description unless otherwise stated.
Participants registering for a multi-session program should plan to attend all scheduled sessions, as later sessions may build upon skills or projects begun during earlier sessions.
Space in Edison Kids programs may be limited. Once a participant registers, a space is reserved for that participant and may no longer be available to another family.
Workshop & Program Materials
Program descriptions will indicate what materials, supplies, equipment, or kits are included in the registration fee.
When materials are included, Edison Kids may purchase, cut, prepare, package, or otherwise reserve those materials specifically for the registered participant before the program begins.
Colors, fabrics, components, brands, or other materials may vary from photographs or samples shown in promotional materials while maintaining the overall nature and quality of the project.
Participants are responsible for bringing any equipment or supplies specifically identified in the program description as “Bring Your Own.”
For sewing and quilting workshops requiring participants to bring a sewing machine, participants are responsible for bringing a machine in safe working condition along with the correct power cord and foot pedal.
Cancellation & Refund Policy
We understand that plans sometimes change. Because Edison Kids programs have limited enrollment and materials may be purchased or prepared specifically for each participant, the following cancellation policy applies.
Participant cancellation more than 7 days before the program
If a participant cancels more than seven (7) days before the first scheduled session, a partial refund will be issued, less the cost of materials already purchased or prepared specifically for that participant.
Any materials fee or the actual cost of materials already purchased or prepared for that participant is non-refundable and will be deducted from the refund.
If the program listing identifies a specific non-refundable materials fee, that amount will apply.
Participant cancellation within 7 days
Cancellations made seven (7) days or fewer before the first scheduled session are non-refundable.
This includes cancellations due to scheduling conflicts, changes of plans, or other circumstances that prevent the participant from attending.
No-shows and missed sessions
No refunds will be issued for:
- Failure to attend a registered program
- Missing a workshop or class session
- Arriving late or leaving early
- Missing one session of a multi-session workshop
Edison Kids cannot guarantee make-up classes or private make-up instruction.
When practical, Edison Kids may allow a participant to transfer to another available session or program at its discretion.
Cancellation by Edison Kids
If Edison Kids cancels an entire program or workshop, participants will be offered either:
- A full refund of amounts paid directly to Edison Kids, or
- The opportunity to transfer the registration to another available program.
If a class must be rescheduled because of weather, instructor illness, facility issues, emergencies, or other circumstances outside Edison Kids’ reasonable control, Edison Kids will make reasonable efforts to provide a replacement date.
Scholarship and Third-Party Funding
Programs purchased through scholarship programs, education savings accounts, Step Up For Students, or other third-party funding sources may also be subject to the rules and reimbursement policies of that funding organization.
Refunds for purchases made using third-party funds will be returned or adjusted according to the requirements of the applicable funding program and may not be paid directly to the participant or parent.
Attendance & Commitment
Consistent attendance helps participants receive the full benefit of Edison Kids programs.
When registering for a multi-session workshop, class, camp, team, or program, families should review the complete schedule before registering.
Some projects cannot be completed if significant instructional time is missed.
While we understand that illnesses and unexpected situations occur, Edison Kids is not obligated to provide replacement instruction, additional class time, or refunds for missed sessions.
Participant Conduct
Edison Kids strives to provide a safe, encouraging, respectful, and creative learning environment.
Participants are expected to:
- Treat instructors, volunteers, other participants, and families respectfully.
- Follow instructor directions and safety procedures.
- Use tools, equipment, supplies, and facilities appropriately.
- Keep hands, objects, and equipment to themselves unless an activity requires otherwise.
- Refrain from bullying, harassment, threatening behavior, or deliberately disruptive conduct.
Aggressive behavior toward another participant, instructor, volunteer, or equipment may result in immediate removal from an activity or program.
If behavior repeatedly interferes with the safety or learning experience of others, Edison Kids may require the participant to leave the program.
Removal for behavior or safety violations does not automatically entitle the participant to a refund.
Parents or guardians remain responsible for the behavior of their minor children.
Safety & Use of Equipment
Edison Kids programs may involve hands-on tools and equipment.
Depending upon the program, these may include items such as:
- Sewing machines
- Needles and pins
- Scissors
- Rotary cutters
- Irons
- Hand tools
- Robotics equipment
- Electronics
- Craft tools
- STEM equipment
- Other age-appropriate tools or materials
Participants must follow all instructor safety directions and use equipment only as instructed.
Edison Kids reserves the right to prevent or stop a participant from using equipment when the instructor believes the equipment is being used improperly or unsafely.
Participation in hands-on activities involves ordinary risks such as minor cuts, burns, pinches, punctures, trips, falls, or other accidental injuries.
Program-specific safety acknowledgments may be required before participation.
For minors, required safety acknowledgments must be completed by a parent or legal guardian.
Personal Equipment & Property
Participants may occasionally be asked or permitted to bring personal equipment or belongings to Edison Kids programs.
Participants are responsible for ensuring personal equipment is appropriate, safe, and in working condition.
Edison Kids is not responsible for lost, stolen, misplaced, or accidentally damaged personal property except where responsibility is imposed by applicable law.
This includes, but is not limited to:
- Sewing machines
- Computers and tablets
- Robotics equipment
- Tools
- Bags
- Clothing
- Phones
- Personal supplies
Participants should clearly label personal property whenever practical.
Damage to Edison Kids Property
Participants are expected to use Edison Kids equipment and materials responsibly.
Families may be responsible for the reasonable repair or replacement cost of equipment that is intentionally damaged or damaged through reckless or clearly improper use.
Normal wear, accidental breakage occurring during appropriate use, and equipment failure will be handled by Edison Kids.
Children & Parent/Guardian Responsibility
Age requirements may vary by program and will be listed in the individual program description.
Some programs may permit parents or guardians to participate alongside their children. Other programs may be designed specifically for children, teens, adults, or particular age ranges.
When a parent or guardian is required to remain onsite, this requirement will be stated in the program information.
Parents and guardians are responsible for providing accurate emergency contact information for minor participants.
Health & Emergency Situations
Parents, guardians, and adult participants are responsible for providing relevant information necessary for safe participation when requested on a registration or participant form.
In the event of an emergency involving a minor participant, Edison Kids will attempt to contact the parent, guardian, or emergency contact provided.
If immediate medical attention appears necessary and a parent or guardian cannot be reached promptly, emergency services may be contacted.
Any costs associated with emergency medical treatment remain the responsibility of the participant or participant’s family.
Photography & Media
Edison Kids may photograph or record programs for educational, informational, or promotional purposes.
Permission to use identifiable photographs or video of a participant will be handled through a separate photo/media consent question or form.
Declining promotional photo permission does not prevent a participant from attending an Edison Kids program.
Edison Kids will make reasonable efforts not to intentionally publish identifiable promotional photographs or video of participants who have declined permission.
Incidental appearance in background or crowd photographs may sometimes occur during public events.
Conflict Resolution
Edison Kids encourages concerns to be addressed promptly, respectfully, and directly.
Whenever possible, participants and families should first communicate concerns with the instructor or Edison Kids leadership rather than discussing disputes with unrelated participants or families.
Consistent with the principles of Matthew 18:15–17, Edison Kids encourages direct and respectful communication when conflict occurs.
Edison Kids Inc. reserves the right to suspend or discontinue participation when necessary to protect the safety, well-being, or learning environment of participants.
When appropriate, families will be given an opportunity to discuss and resolve concerns before participation is discontinued.
Immediate action may be taken when safety is at risk.
Christian Identity & Code of Conduct
Edison Kids is a Christian organization.
Although Edison Kids is not affiliated with one specific church or Christian denomination, we seek to operate according to Biblical principles in the way we teach, serve families, resolve conflicts, and interact with one another.
All families are welcome to participate in Edison Kids programs; however, Edison Kids programs and instruction may reflect the organization’s Christian worldview.
Participants are not required to personally affirm Edison Kids’ Statement of Faith in order to participate, but participants and families are expected to respect the organization’s right to teach and operate according to these convictions.
Edison Kids Statement of Faith
We believe in the Trinity: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit — one God in three persons.
We believe that the universe and all living things, including mankind, were created by the direct creative acts of God as described in Genesis.
We believe that mankind was created in the image of God and that the fall of mankind into sin demonstrates humanity’s need for a Savior.
We believe that Jesus Christ, God’s Son, was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, died on the cross for our sins, rose from the dead, and ascended into heaven, where He is the mediator between God and mankind.
We believe that salvation is by grace through faith in Jesus Christ.
We believe that the Bible is God’s authoritative and inspired Word and is the foundation for Christian faith and conduct.
We believe that the work of the Holy Spirit is essential to spiritual new birth and Christian growth.
We believe that Biblical marriage is between one man and one woman.
We believe that God created mankind in His image, male and female, equal in personal dignity.
We believe that the Church is called to worship God, witness to Jesus Christ, and proclaim the Gospel.
Changes to Programs
Edison Kids may make reasonable changes to instructors, schedules, activities, materials, locations, or program content when circumstances require.
When a substantial change affects a participant’s ability to attend, Edison Kids will communicate available options to registered families.
Acceptance of Terms
By completing registration or purchasing an Edison Kids program, the purchaser acknowledges that they have read and agree to these Terms & Conditions.
For participants under 18, the purchaser confirms that they are the participant’s parent, legal guardian, or are otherwise authorized to complete the registration.
