SUMMARY:Micro:Bit Workshop Wednesdays
DESCRIPTION:Code. Create. Connect.Bring ideas to life with the micro:bit! \nJoin us for a hands-on\, beginner-friendly 12-week micro:bit adventure where homeschoolers explore real-world coding and electronics using the powerful (and kid-friendly) BBC micro:bit. Students will learn how code interacts with the physical world as they build games\, gadgets\, and interactive devices—no prior experience required. \nThis workshop goes far beyond “just coding.” Each week\, students experiment with buttons\, LEDs\, sensors\, sound\, radio communication\, and external components while learning core programming concepts like logic\, variables\, loops\, conditionals\, and problem-solving. Guided by experienced Edison Kids STEM mentors\, kids gain confidence as they design\, test\, debug\, and improve projects they’re excited to show off. \nBy the end of the session\, students won’t just know how to code—they’ll understand how technology works and how to turn their ideas into functioning creations. \n\nWhat’s Included?\nInteractive Lessons – Step-by-step instruction using MakeCode block programming\, perfect for beginners.Hands-On Builds – Create games\, digital tools\, sensors\, alarms\, and wireless projects.Real Engineering Skills – Learn how inputs\, outputs\, sensors\, and logic work together.Expert Mentors – Personalized guidance from experienced Edison Kids instructors.Collaboration & Fun – Work alongside other homeschoolers in a supportive environment.Final Project Showcase – Design and present a capstone micro:bit project. \n\nWorkshop Dates: Wednesdays\, starting 2/25/26 (12 weeks)Time: 2:30 pm – 4:00 pmLocation: Edison Kids Innovation Center9300 Normandy Blvd\, Suite 508\, Jacksonville\, FL 32221Cost: $400 per student \nSpaces are limited—register early to secure your spot! \nIdeal for ages 8–14 (recommended: basic reading and typing comfort). \nThink it. Code it. Build it—with micro:bit.
