Clean Water Quest: Exploring Water Purification with the Scientific Method 💧

Join us for a hands-on science adventure in our 2-hour Clean Water Quest Workshop, where students become environmental scientists for the day! In this engaging session, students will use the Scientific Method to explore one of the most important questions in global science: How can we purify dirty water?

Students will experiment with various natural and household materials—like sand, gravel, charcoal, and coffee filters—to design and test their own mini water purification systems. They’ll form hypotheses, conduct trials, collect and analyze data, and refine their designs to improve results. Along the way, they’ll learn about real-world water challenges and the role of science in solving them.

What to Expect:

  • Discover how water gets polluted and why purification is important

  • Use the Scientific Method to design and test purification techniques

  • Build simple filtration systems using everyday materials

  • Observe, record, and evaluate results to improve effectiveness

  • Gain insight into environmental science, sustainability, and global impact
