AI & Intelligent Systems Lab

AI & Intelligent Systems Lab
Build Smart Machines. Think Critically. Lead Responsibly.
Kickstart Your Student’s Understanding of Artificial Intelligence!
Join us for an exciting 8-week hands-on AI workshop where homeschoolers explore how intelligent systems actually work. Beginning March 27th 2026, students will learn how machines recognize patterns, make predictions, and interact with the world through data and sensors — while building real robotics applications and exploring the ethical responsibility that comes with powerful technology.
This workshop is designed for middle and high school students who are ready to go beyond “using AI” and begin understanding it. Whether your student loves robotics, coding, engineering, or big ideas about the future, this lab equips them with foundational knowledge that will serve them in STEM, entrepreneurship, and leadership.
Led by experienced mentors, students work in a focused, high-engagement environment where curiosity meets critical thinking and innovation meets responsibility.
Each session follows the Edison Engineering Design Process (E²DP):
Explore. Envision. Engineer. Execute. Evaluate. Explain.
Students won’t just experiment with AI tools — they’ll learn how intelligent systems are trained, how bias occurs, how probability drives decisions, and how smart machines connect to real-world robotics and innovation.
This is more than a tech class. It’s a forward-thinking experience that helps students understand the systems shaping their generation — and prepares them to build wisely within them.
What’s Included?
AI Foundations – Understand automation vs machine learning, neural networks (conceptually), pattern recognition, and how training data shapes outcomes.
Model Training & Bias Exploration – Use hands-on machine learning tools to train simple models and explore how data impacts results.
Robotics Integration – Build and program sensor-based robots that make real-time decisions using input data and conditional logic.
Probability & Decision-Making – Learn how confidence scores, false positives, and thresholds affect real-world AI systems.
Ethics & Leadership Discussion – Explore AI in healthcare, transportation, media, and defense while engaging in guided debates on responsibility and impact.
Capstone Innovation Project – Design and present an AI-enhanced solution, robotics application, or ethical proposal using the E²DP framework.
Small Group Mentorship – Focused instruction in a supportive environment designed to stretch technical thinking and leadership growth.
All materials and instruction included.
